Counselling Services
1-on-1 Counselling
All women have a right to live a life free from violence. Taking the step to talk to someone about domestic and family violence can be confronting and overwhelming. At The Yellow Gate we have an experienced team of counsellors who provide compassionate, empathetic, culturally safe and confidential support for women who have been impacted by domestic, family and sexual violence.
How We Can Help
Sessions are client led and can cover safety planning, preparing to leave a relationship, emotional recovery, wellbeing, referrals, and advocacy to other services.
Who It’s For
We provide support to women aged 15 and older who have faced domestic, family, or sexual violence, regardless of whether their experience is ongoing, recent, or occurred several years ago
What To Expect
We offer FREE flexible counselling sessions that can be scheduled weekly, fortnightly, as a one-off, or on an ad-hoc basis. Appointments are up to 60 minutes and available either in person or via phone.

Prevention
Our Focus
Violence against women is a serious and widespread problem in our community, but it is also preventable.
At The Yellow Gate, we believe women and families have a right to live a life free from violence. To do that we need to challenge or address the four drivers of violence against women which include:
- Condoning of violence against women,
- Women’s independence and decision making
- Societal norms and expectations, such as gender roles
- Male peer relations and cultures of masculinity that emphasise aggression, dominance and control
We actively look to collaborate with local services, schools, community groups, sporting clubs and workplaces to further build awareness and educate the community about how we can all prevent domestic, family and sexual violence.
Onkaparinga Collaborative Approach (OCA)
The Yellow Gate is a proud member of the Onkaparinga Collaborative Approach (OCA). The OCA is a collective network of government and non-government organisations in the Onkaparinga region of South Australia committed to the prevention of Domestic Violence and Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Family Violence.
